The Duchess Deal is a book I probably wouldn’t have picked up - ever - if it weren’t for an awesome group of people I met here on Goodreads! I mean this cover screams cheesy romance and, yes, it was exactly that. But… it was perfect. It is a full on historical romance book with fairytale vibes in which a duke marries a seamstress, simply out of convenience, because he needs an heir and she is there. And what begins as a good deal for both of them - as a marriage of convenience - starts into a steamy romance where the main characters can’t take their hands of each other and ultimately fall in love. Yes, there were steamy scenes, yes there were scenes sweeter than sugar and it didn’t all make perfect sense and there were also facepalm scenes and there was drama, but it was addicting. The writing style is fluent and perfect, full of humour. I loved the banter between the duke and his wife and I had to laugh out loud so many times! I was supposed to read it as a buddy/ group read and we had chapters for each day, but on the second day already I was unable to put this book down and all of a sudden it was 2am in the morning and I was lying in bed and the book - all of a sudden - was over… whoops! It was that good and I want to read more of Tessa Dare now. That much is clear!
