One night, unsuspecting, she meets Cal, who helps her out of an awkward situation - but what's next? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I really liked the book. [Edit: I found it incredibly exciting and fascinating to experience all of this again in English. The view and actually also the content felt turned by 180 °!] The characters were personable and authentic, somehow lovable and yet perfectly imperfect. Mare was a very strong and impulsive protagonist, but still weak in some moments. In her weak moments, Cal and Maven were with her. Maven was cute, loyal in a way, but cunning and insidious on the other. Cal also played a double game; loving and hard. 🤭 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I also liked the storyline. I found the world in which the book is set exciting, although through July I also noticed in retrospect that a few explanations were missing, such as why there is a war between Norta and Lakeland? The plot was peppered with plot twists, tension and a damn nasty cliffhanger towards the end! 😱
