I waited a long time to finally pick up Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. Mostly because of all the hype surrounding it, but also because the only other book I so far read by Becky Albertalli - the Upside of Unrequited - left me totally underwhelmed. I was hesitant to pick up another of her books to say the least. Well, I need not have worried. Simon vs was actually pretty good. I don't think its the best thing I’ve ever read, but it was very cute, I loved Simon’s way of thinking and his inner monologues, I really like the emails with Blue and I liked the other things surrounding the story. And what I REALLY liked was the narrator’s voice, because I listened to it on audiobook. Which was a very good idea. I probably could have listened to it in one go, however that didn’t happen because life got in the way. But it was that good! I also liked the side characters - especially Nick and Abby though. I don’t really know what to think of Leah as I thought the drama in the end was a bit unnecessary, but I guess I will find out whether or not I like her as soon as I am getting around to Leah on the offbeat. (I am planning on reading that now after all.) I would also like to watch the movie "Love, Simon“. A thing I normally don’t really notice in books is how the title plays a role in the actual story. In this story, both, the title of the book as well as the title of the movie made perfect sense and I loved how these titles came to be. Last but no least, I enjoyed Simon’s quest to find out Blue’s identity. I actually wouldn’t have thought it to be the person it came to be in the end. My guess had been on someone else entirely, but I liked the outcome nonetheless and well, I must say that I really wish there was a sequel about Simon and Blue. It ended very nicely, but I want more!!
