“You must be the best judge of your own happiness.” 2,5 stars. This book was a struggle. It took me over a month to finish Emma and that is probably the longest it EVER took me to finish a book. I don't regret reading it even if I didn't enjoy it that much. And yes, I still want to read my other Jane Austen books. Because I loved her style of writing (even though it's exhausting to read). I just felt like it was too little plot in too many pages. Like, for most of the book, I had no idea what the plot really was. Or who most of the characters were. Thanks to wikipedia I realized that there weren't too many characters. I just got confused because they were sometimes adressed with their first name, and sometimes with their family name. I actually liked Emma. I feel like most people who didn't like the book, didn't like her either... But what can I say? I think that she was a brilliant choice as a protagonist. And I enjoyed the ending. I mean, I also enjoyed the actual plot. I just feel like this book would have been much better if it was 200 pages shorter.
