Cindy
Cinder's story is loosly based on the fairytale of Cinderella, so actually a happy end is programmed. But the struggle towards this end is worth reading. Cinder is an utterly talented mechanic in the city of New Bejing, but she is also cyborg. Parts of her body consist of metal and wires, so the society sees cyborgs as outcasts. Living with her cruel stepmother or loyal guardian, Cinder's life is very hard. One day, prince Kai visits her booth at the market and things start to get interesting. This novel is stunning. The world it creates is so unique that I do not have words to describe it. There are cyborgs and droids, hovers, life on the moon. A cruel queen who wants to destroy the earth. A love story that cannot be. Friendship and loyality. The writing style contributes to a unique reading experience. Meyer writes a flow of words that catch your interest so that you are not able to take the book down. I could have read it in a day. The story never gets boring even if some things are foreshadowed. The characters are truly unique. Cinder is a strong young woman who suffered a lot to come to this point of her life. Prince Kaito is selfless but determined to be strong. Iko, Cinder's little droid, is a blast and makes the beutiful story complete. This is definitely a must-read for every fabtasy/dystopian-fan out there.I am looking forward to continue with this series.
