while reading this I compared it to my most liked fantasy book (SoC) and I can’t really compare them. But let’s start at the beginning: Alessandra has been heartbroken once but won’t let that happen to her again. She begins her own plan of acquiring everything she (thinks) she deserves. Woo the king, marry him, kill him and take his country for herself. It sounded very ambitious to me. This story’s presented at Slytherin style, which is not likely to be acquired easily. I had a lot of fun in the beginning of the book when she has no one to care about. She is young, selfish and has her way with everything. Slytherin. I like a lot 💜. As the story advances we get to know other characters whom she befriends or despises. No bad attitude anymore. 💜 To cut it short: every man inside this book is flat and an idiot. Most women despite the protagonist are as well. I like the feeling of having lost a friend when turning the last page. No dice. It was really a fun story but I won’t recommend it if you are not into pure romance. The only fantasy part is the king being a shadow king. Oh my favorite line (resemblance to pride and prejudice): “But not so beautiful as to tempt me”.
