"Alice and her mother have been on the run since Alice can remember. Bad luck seems to be following them around and when her mother is eventually taken by some strange people, who claim to be from The Hinterland,a place invented by Alice´s grandma, Alice wants nothing more than to get her back. With Ellery Finch, a boy from school, by her side she takes off to find The Hazelwood, the estate that belonged to her now dead grandmother, but soon she finds herself in a twisted fairytale where the only way out seems to be death." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I absolutely adored this book. I would have probably finished it in a day hadn´t I been sick when I read it. I love everything that has to do with fairytales and getting to go on this journey with Alice, not quite knowing what was going on and who she really was, who were the bad and who were the good guys, was exciting and I bit my nails with every twist and turn! And I absolutely fell in love with Finch, I couldn´t even have stopped it if I wanted to and while I´m a little sad he didn´t get to be with Alice in the end I like the thought that he´s finally free and gets to do what he wants. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As much as I love Disney movies they often let you forget that fairytales have a very dark side to them and those dark sides are a very big part of The Hazelwood, which I absolutely loved. I´d recommend this book to every fairytale fan out there who loves their fairytales with a modern twist!
